Injection of a x-ray contrast agents or medications into the vertebral disc.
After local anesthesia, the cannula is advanced up to the middle of the vertebral disc and a contrast agent is injected. Then the patient is questioned about his pain. This results in a precise diagnosis.
After the discography the cannula can be used to inject medication as e.g. a diluted cortisone solution or opiates, which are injected into the vertebral disc.
