Out-patient and in-patient interventional pain therapy
When you visit us for the first time, we ask you to bring with you all available documents as former x-rays, computer tomographic and nuclear spin photographs as well as neurological and internal medical results and surgery reports.
Acute and chronic pain conditions, which cannot successfully be treated by out-patient therapeutic methods, can be treated in our hospital. The whole scheme of the therapy plan will be discussed in detail with the patient before the treatment. Physiotherapy can also be started already during the stay in the hospital. We also coordinate further treatments with the patient.
Many of the minimal invasive spin surgeries can be performed with local anesthesia under the surveillance of a well trained anesthesiologist. We normally do a so called Analgesic Half-Sleep Sedation, which means that the combination of pain-killing medicaments (analgesic agents) together with sedative substances with a central effect will be injected into a vein to exclude pain and relax the patient. It can happen that a patient "misses" the operation since he sleeps. Only for longer and more sever operations we recommend a general anaesthetic.
The general examinations before the treatment can already be done at home by the regular physician or internist.
After the treatment, the patients remain in the anaesthetic recovery room to fully wake up. They still con go home at the same day accompanied by a person in attendance. The exact timing you will be told at the day of the treatment.
Preparations for an in-patient surgery:
The introduction to your physicans and the pre-examinations take place on the day of your arrival. The duration of your stay with us depends on the necessary diagnostic and therapeutic as well as surgical treatments. The physiotherapy may start already for some in-patients.
